Older than 3,200
Delete old tweets beyond your newest 3,200
X's API only lists your newest 3,200 posts. Your free X archive lists every post you have ever made, so PrunePosts can delete any of them.
In short
Upload the free archive X lets you download, and PrunePosts can delete any post in it, back to your first tweet. Your browser opens the .zip and uploads only the posts files; photos, videos and messages stay on your computer. Deleting runs at X's limit of 50 posts every 15 minutes, and uploading the archive costs nothing.
Why 3,200?
X's developer documentation says the user posts timeline returns up to the 3,200 most recent posts (X API docs: Timelines). Replies and reposts count toward the same 3,200. Anything older is invisible to a tool that only asks X's API, which is why many tweet deleters stop there.
Delete old tweets in five steps
Request your archive
On x.com, open Settings and privacy › Your account › Download an archive of your data, confirm it's you, and choose Request archive.
Download the .zip
X notifies you when it is ready, often a day or more later. Download the .zip; you don't need to unzip it.
Drop it into PrunePosts
Your browser opens the .zip and uploads only the posts files. Photos, videos and messages stay on your computer.
Pick the old posts
Filter by date, type, keyword or likes, or run the AI review, and see the exact count and price.
Practice, then delete
Run a practice round, confirm, and PrunePosts deletes the posts by ID at 50 every 15 minutes.
Step-by-step pictures of the request are in our guide: How to download your X archive.
What gets uploaded
An X archive is mostly photos and videos and can run to gigabytes, but your posts are a few megabytes. PrunePosts opens the .zip in your browser and uploads only the posts files (tweets.js, or tweet.js in older archives, plus your account details). Your direct messages, photos and videos never leave your computer.
How long it takes
Old posts are deleted at the same pace as new ones: X allows 50 deletions every 15 minutes, about 4,800 a day. 20,000 old posts take at least four days.
Questions
Why can't tweet deleters see my older tweets?
X's API lists only an account's newest 3,200 posts, so any tool that finds posts through it can't see older ones. Your X archive lists every post with its ID, and a post can be deleted by ID whatever its age.
Do I need to unzip my X archive?
No. Drop the .zip file in as it is. Your browser reads it and uploads only the posts files.
Is uploading the archive free?
Yes. Uploading and filtering your archive costs nothing. Deleting is paid for out of your plan, and so is loading posts through X's API instead, at X's price of half a cent a post.
What about posts I made after I requested the archive?
Sign in with X as well. PrunePosts loads your newest posts through X's API, so posts newer than your archive are covered too.
How old can the posts be?
Any age. If a post is in your archive and still on X, PrunePosts can delete it, back to your first post.
