Guide
How to delete your X replies
Short answer
Open your profile, choose the Replies tab, open the ••• menu on a reply and choose Delete post. X has no bulk delete, so clearing many replies takes a tool that uses X's API, plus your X archive for replies older than your newest 3,200 posts. Replies written in arguments are the ones worth checking against X's rules first.
Delete a single reply
- Open your profile and choose the Replies tab.
- Find the reply and tap the ••• icon at its top.
- Choose Delete post, then Delete.
Find old replies
The Replies tab gets slow after a few hundred. Search instead:
from:yourhandle filter:replieslists only your replies.- Add
until:2021-01-01to see replies from before a date. - Add a word, for example
from:yourhandle filter:replies idiot, to find replies you might regret.
Your X archive also lists every reply you have made, with the account you replied to.
Delete replies in bulk
Bulk tools that use X's official API share the same limits: 50 deletions per account every 15 minutes, a fee from X for each request ($0.005 to $0.010, checked October 2026), and only your newest 3,200 posts reachable without your archive. Browser-based tools avoid the API limit but still need the archive for older replies. How PrunePosts bulk-deletes replies. Download your archive before you start; X can't restore deleted posts.
Check your replies against X's rules first
Replies are where arguments happen, so they are where a post is easiest to regret. Before deleting all of them, find the ones that actually cross a line: abuse and harassment, hateful conduct, violent speech, or someone's private information.
What deleting a reply does
- It disappears from your profile, from the conversation and from X's search.
- Reposts of it are removed too.
- Copies stay: quotes with comments, screenshots, and anything other sites cached are not removed.
Questions
Can I delete all my X replies at once?
Not in X itself: X only lets you delete posts one by one, and replies are posts. A bulk tool that uses X's API can delete replies at 50 every 15 minutes.
Can I delete my replies but keep my posts?
Yes. Each reply is its own post, so deleting replies leaves your other posts alone. PrunePosts lets you choose whether to check posts, replies and quote posts.
What happens to other people's replies to mine?
They stay. Deleting your reply removes only your post. Reposts of your reply are removed, but copies, screenshots and quotes made by other people are not.
